Philippine Ambassador Tang Presents Credentials as Philippine Non-Resident Ambassador to Burundi President Ndayishimiye – African Business

Marie Charlotte G. Tang, Philippine Ambassador in Kenya and Nonresident Ambassador to Burundi, presented her credentials to President Evariste Ndayishimiye at the Palais Ntare Rushatsi, Bujumbura on 27 June 2022.

Ambassador Tang conveyed the felicitations of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte to the President and the people of Burundi as the country celebrates its 60th anniversary of independence on 01 July 2022.

She expressed her hopes to work with Burundian officials on enhancing bilateral relations as well as people-to-people relationships. 

President Ndayishimiye welcomed the cordial relations between the Philippines and Burundi and stated that the Philippines can share its expertise in many fields to support Burundi’s development.

Ambassador Tang was joined by envoys from Romania, Hungary, Indonesia, Indonesia, and Indonesia who presented their credentials to President Ndayishimiye.

Ambassador Tang met with officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Development Cooperation during her visit to Bujumbura.

She also met with Burundi’s small Filipino community. They are involved in UN agencies, manufacturing companies, as well as religious congregations.

Burundi is an isolated landlocked republic in the Great Lakes region, East Africa. The capital was moved to Gitega in 2018 although Bujumbura remains the country’s largest city and main commercial hub.

2017 was the year that Burundi and the Philippines officially established diplomatic relations.
