Local company Hyper Sports Group organizes awards to recognize coaches, players, and supporters who have made an impact during the 2021/22 football seasons.
Since 2018, there have not been any football awards events in Rwanda. The new awards, dubbed Hyper Football Award 2022, were introduced to recognize those who performed well during the current season.
“Football is a game that brings together so many people in the country, yet there have no awards organized to recognize those who impress. It’s important to recognize a great job done by our players and coaches because the awards are an occasion to appreciate and give value to the job they do,” said Samuel Ndayishimiye, the founder of Hyper Sports Group that organizes the awards.
Ndayishimiye stated that the awards will be kept as a part of Rwandan football’s contribution.
The awards will be given to best performing players, coaches and fans who were outstanding throughout the season considering their performances in men’s and women’s football competitions including the Rwanda Premier League, the women’s top flight league, the second division for both men and women as well as the Peace Cup.
The nomination process for different categories begins Thursday and will continue until July 6. The confirmation of nominees will be made on July 7. The nominations will be made on July 7 by various figures who closely follow local football, such as coaches, journalists, and captains.
The shortlists for the Best Player (men and women), Best Goalkeeper and Best Coach among other categories will be released on July 7, the same day from which the public will start voting their favorites via www.hiperawards.com until July 28.
The award-giving gala will be held on July 30 and the winners will be announced. Each winner will receive 40% of the revenue generated by the votes. The more votes someone gets, the more money they’ll get.
