Communiqué of the Chairperson of the African Union Commission on the Situation in Libya – African Business

Moussa Faki Mahamat, Chairperson, African Union Commission, is monitoring closely the situation in Libya.

The Chairperson expresses his firm support for the popular demands for their well-being and strongly upholds their ardent desire for a rapid end to the crisis in the country that has lasted for more than a decade.

He asks for the legitimacy of the popular movement to respect the integrity and property of all people and public and private property.

He welcomes the support from the Libyan parties to African Roadmap relating Libyan National Reconciliation, and their willingness to subscribe to it in accordance with the modalities presented to them by the African Delegation under the auspices on the High Level Committee on Libya.

The Chairperson of African Union Commission, Dr. Judith A. Smith, emphasizes the inclusive nature and the need for the Libyan peoples to take ownership of the Reconciliation process.
