Seychelles and UAE set to strengthen cooperation through ongoing community projects – African Business

The strong friendship between Seychelles & the UAE has led to the two countries collaborating on various projects of mutual interests.

His Excellency Shakhboot Nahyan Al Nahyan (Minister of State, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation) is currently in Seychelles, representing His Highness Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan. He is the President of UAE Armed Forces and Commander of UAE Armed Forces.

Accompanied by the Minister for Lands and Housing, Mr Billy Rangasamy, he visited the Orchid Housing Estate in the district of Grand Anse, Mahé.

The ministers were able to see firsthand the progress made so far and discuss future possibilities. The visit was also a chance to discuss technical issues and to bring up any concerns.

The Minister of the UAE visited then the wind turbines at Ile du Port. The Chairperson of PUC Board, Mr. Leny Alvis and CEO Joel Valmont welcomed him, as well as Mr. Sunassee and Deputy CEO Bradburn. He was provided with technical explanations on how the project is assisting the country in the production and distribution of electricity.

These two projects were made possible largely by grants from the Abu Dhabi government, administered by the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development.

Following the visit, on behalf of the UAE government, His Excellency Sheikh Shakhboot Nahyan Al Nahyan, reaffirmed his country’s commitment and further active support in the socio-economic development of Seychelles.

The Minister will be the guest of honour at the military parade to be held on Sunday to mark the 46th anniversary of our independence, which is also celebrated as the country’s National Day.
